Drinkin’ for Charity

What could be better than drinking great cocktails, unless you’re drinking great cocktails for charity? That’s the whole point of The Art of the Cocktail, the tenth annual An Evening Among Friends fundraiser for Turning Point.

Ryan Maybee of The Rieger & Manifesto fame created six (six!) cocktails for the event, and members of the Kansas City Bartenders Alliance will be shakin’ them up and pourin’ them out. There’s also food, a killer raffle, a DJ and art for sale. Did I mention it’s on June 24, at Studio Dan Meiners, one of the best event venues in town? And can you tell I’m helping organize this event?

Anyway, here’s a rundown of what you can expect in the main bar, dubbed the Watering Hole: Pisco punch, a Hendrick’s highball made with SodaVie Cucumber soda and a house-infused Stoli sour. Shell out a bit extra, and you also gain access to the VIP Speakeasy Lounge and its cocktail list: the Pendergast (bourbon, sweet vermouth and Benedictine), a tequila highball made with Milagro tequila and SodaVie’s Citrus Kicker, and rum punch made with Cruzan Black Strap and Sailor Jerry rums. Maybee will also be doing cocktail demos in the Speakeasy Lounge throughout the night.

If that’s not enough to quench your thirst, don’t worry—there will also be plenty of beer, wine and other standard bar fare available. To find out more about Turning Point and for ticket info, visit the organization’s web site, Facebook page or open The Art Of The Cocktail flier. And then drink up. It’s for a good cause.
